Buying guide
Which cold cup is right for your venue?
Every cold cup we print, compared side by side: sizes, materials, lid pairings and what each one suits best.
| Cup | Sizes | Material | Lid pairing | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PET | 10, 12, 16, 20oz | Crystal-clear PET, rigid and glossy | 78mm–98mm flat, dome & sipper | Iced coffee, cold brew and anything you want seen |
| PP | 12, 16, 20oz | PP plastic, slightly softer and more impact-resistant | 90mm & 95mm flat and dome | High-volume venues, bubble tea and sealing machines |
| Paper cups | 12, 16oz | Lined paper cold cup | 90mm paper or plastic lids | Venues wanting a printed paper cold cup |
| Small / tasting cups | 8, 10oz | Plastic | 78mm–80mm | Juice shots, samples, dessert and market stalls |
PP vs PET: what's the difference?
PET and PP are the two plastics we print cold cups on. PET is the glassy, rigid option that shows a drink off; PP is the tougher, more flexible option that seals and handles volume. Both print with the same process and both come in flat-wall and U-shape.
| PET | PP | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Crystal-clear and glossy — the closest thing to glass. Shows layers, colour and garnish off best. | Available clear, frosted or black. Clear PP has a slightly softer, less glassy look than PET. |
| Feel & strength | Rigid and crisp. Holds its shape on the pass, but can crack if crushed. | More flexible and impact-resistant. Squeezes rather than cracks, so fewer losses in a busy service. |
| Temperature | Cold drinks only — not suitable for hot liquids. | Cold drinks, and copes better with warm liquids and heat-sealing machines. |
| Sealing film | Not designed for sealing machines. | The standard choice for film-sealed bubble tea, juice and smoothies. |
| Shapes | Flat-wall and U-shape available. | Flat-wall and U-shape available in clear, frosted and black. |
| Printing | Print sits on a glass-like surface — bold marks and white ink read best. | Same print process; frosted and black bodies give white and metallic-look inks more contrast. |
| Best for | Iced coffee, cold brew, juice, layered and 'look at me' drinks. | Bubble tea, sealed drinks, smoothies, thick shakes and high-volume venues. |

Sizing your cold cup menu
Most venues cover the whole cold menu with two sizes: a 16oz for iced coffee and shakes, and a 20oz for smoothies, frappés and anything served over heavy ice. Add a 12oz if you sell juice or short iced drinks.
PET is the default — it's rigid, glossy and shows the drink off. PP is the pick if you seal cups, run bubble tea, or want a cup that survives a busy pass. Paper cold cups suit venues that prefer a printed paper body over clear plastic.
Whatever you choose, check the rim diameter before you order lids. Sizes that share a rim share a lid, which means less stock on the shelf and fewer wrong-lid moments in service.
Designing for a clear cup
Print on clear plastic behaves differently to paper — there's no white base behind your logo, so the drink shows through. Bold, solid shapes and a single strong colour read best; fine hairlines and pale tints tend to disappear once the cup is full.
White ink is a popular choice because it holds contrast against dark coffee and bright juice alike. Send us your logo and we'll show you how it will sit on the cup in your free proof, within 24 hours.
Pricing is based on 1-colour print; up to 4 colours is available and priced on your design. A $50 stencil fee applies per unique logo on printed orders. Get a free quote.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for printed cold cups?+
Minimums depend on the cup and size — most printed runs start at one carton per size. Send a quote request and we'll confirm the volume breakdown for your exact spec.
How long do printed cold cups take?+
Printed orders are dispatched 3–5 business days after you approve the artwork, plus delivery time. Blank stock ships faster. We confirm timing on your quote.
How does printing look on clear plastic?+
Print sits directly on the cup, so the drink shows through around your design. Solid, bold marks read best; very fine detail and light tints lose impact on a clear surface.
Can I print white on a clear cup?+
Yes — white is a common choice on clear PET and PP because it holds contrast against any drink colour. Tell us on your quote and we'll set it up in the proof.
How many colours can I print?+
Up to 4 colours. Quoted pricing is for 1-colour print; multi-colour print is subject to price increases depending on your design.
Which lid fits which cold cup?+
Cold cups are matched by rim diameter, from 78mm to 98mm. Several sizes usually share one rim, so you can run a whole menu on two lid types. Every product page lists its matching lids.
Flat, dome or sipper lids?+
Flat lids suit straws and stacking, dome lids give headroom for whipped toppings and thick shakes, and sipper lids suit straw-free service. We can quote a mix.
Do you have paper cold cups?+
Yes. Printed paper cold cups run alongside the clear PET and PP range in 12 and 16oz.
Can I get samples before ordering?+
Absolutely. Order a free sample pack and check clarity, rigidity and lid fit before committing.
How is pricing worked out?+
Rate depends on cup type, size, quantity and number of print colours, and can vary with your artwork. Request a quote for exact numbers.
Can you supply blank cold cups?+
Yes — choose 'Blank' as the quote type on any product page and we'll price unprinted stock.
Do you deliver Australia-wide?+
Yes. We deliver nationwide, with local Melbourne delivery and North Melbourne pickup available. Delivery is quoted on your location and order size.
